My Therapeutic Approach

Understanding my Integrative Method

As an integrative therapist, I combine various therapeutic approaches to understand and support each young person individually. My training spans humanistic, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and I am also qualified to use EMDR when appropriate. This allows me to tailor my approach to what each young person needs, rather than expecting one method to fit all. Some may benefit from understanding their thoughts and feelings, developing coping strategies, exploring past experiences, or making sense of how these events might still affect them today.

Positive Outcomes for Young People

Through therapy, young people can develop a stronger sense of who they are, a better understanding of their thoughts and feelings, and increased confidence in navigating life's challenges. They learn to recognise and manage strong emotions, build healthier coping strategies, and feel more able to express their needs. This often leads to increased confidence in dealing with challenges both now and in the future.

Specialised Support for Diverse Needs

My approach is adapted to each young person's individual experiences, needs, and understanding of themselves. I work with curiosity, empathy, and without judgement, creating a space where young people can explore who they are and what makes them unique without fear of shame or needing to change. For those exploring their identity, I focus on helping them develop a stronger understanding and acceptance of themselves. This may involve exploring their experiences, relationships, emotions, and how they see themselves in the world, ensuring they feel heard and respected. For trauma, the focus may shift from talking to a somatic approach, or if age and development allow, the use of EMDR.
